What References Should I Use. Many people struggle to decide who to list as their references on their resume. Don't include more references just to hit a higher number.
Ask for permission to use someone as a reference. Don't use relatives or friends for personal references; they have no direct knowledge of your performance on the job. The references are sorted alphabetically, double spaced, and formatted using a hanging indent of ½ inch.
Each reference should be able to meaningfully attest to your professional strengths and character.
An APA reference list must: Be on a new page at the end of the document.
Typically accompanied by a "Bibliography" page. These people should be able to attest to your work ethic, skills and achievements in your past roles. The date is listed immediately following the author's name in the "References" list.
